Being a member of Tunbridge Wells Football Club matters!
Welcome to the membership scheme for 2019/20 season.
When I was younger, I was told to always support your local team. Unfortunately for my then local team Welling United, this was the late 80's when you could still just turn up at a top flight football match, and pay a small amount of affordable money to watch the best players in the country and join in with a great atmosphere.
These days as we know top flight football is no longer accessible to many, except via a TV screen, and if you want to watch live football then your local team is the best option.
I moved to Tunbridge Wells 15 years ago, for the first 13 years I hardly ever heard about the football club or read anything about them in the local papers, none of my friends went to the games, in fact not many people went at all. And then 2 years ago, remarkably the club went on that fantastic run to Wembley in the FA Vase.
It was for the Shildon semi final that I decided to venture down to the Culverden Stadium to see what all the fuss was about, and that day I found a hidden gem in Tunbridge Wells F.C, and since then I have only been to 2 top flight matches and do not plan on going to many more.
What I found was a community of people from all walks of life that share a common love for their Local Football team. It does not matter which other teams you support, as on match day these do not get mentioned as the focus is all about The Wells. There is also a large network of volunteers that give up a lot of their personal time and effort to ensure that we have a local club at all. Since getting involved with the Membership scheme a few weeks ago I can now really appreciate. How much effort is involved.
Only a few years ago 50 people would turn up to watch matches, since then these crowds have grown to over 250 on average, sometimes near 1,000 for local Derby's but for the Wembley final we took 12,000 fans, and most were from Tunbridge Wells itself, pretty impressive for a town of only 65,000 people. So I am confident more people have yet to discover the hidden gem that is Tunbridge Wells Football Club.
Last season we had 90 members, but this season we have enhanced the membership scheme as we reach out more into the community. We are a family orientated football club, none of our songs are allowed to have any swear words in them, and if anyone is caught swearing then they are quickly reprimanded. Tunbridge Wells now have a reputation as the best supported team in the league. We have the now famous South Stand choir, and we also have now got a youth support section, which is growing every season and even come to away games with us.
So with the help of local businesses around Tunbridge Wells we have developed a benefits package for young and old, which is designed to bring money into the football club and also offer great savings to our members, which are worth much more than the cost of the membership. Each member will also have their own personalised photo ID membership card.
To join the scheme, simply fill in this membership form and email back to membership@twfcexec.com and also send a head picture of each member. For example if you join the Family membership then you will need to send head pictures of both adults and children to be included in each of the cards. You can pay by bank transfer, cash or cheque made payable to Tunbridge Wells Football Club. Alternatively please see me on the membership desk in the club house on match days where we can print your cards straight away.
Please see below for details of the benefits of each scheme, there will be more benefits added during the season.
So come and support your local club, make new friends, watch exciting football and help contribute to the future successes of our football club.
